World Book Day 2017

On Thursday, 2 March, the whole school came together to celebrate World Book Day!

Staff dressed up as their favourite literary characters and participated in fun and interactive activities with the pupils. We had mutant media lessons with Miss Allen (Storm from the X-Men), a trip to Neverland with Mr O’ Connor and Mr Hawes (Captain Hook and Peter Pan) and some out of this world science with Mr Saunders (Mark Watney - The Martian).

Children’s author Lindsey Barraclough was in the library all day running writing workshops where pupils were taught key descriptive writing skills and given one or two literary secrets from her new novel ‘Long Lankin’.
It was a fantastic day which really helped emphasise the importance of literacy within schools. Literacy is an integral aspect of our pupils’ education and we were extremely proud to see our pupils participate and interact so enthusiastically throughout the day.
