Cllr Pat Egan - RIP
The governors, staff and wider community of St Thomas More were shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of the Chair of Governors, Pat Egan on Saturday last. Martin Tissot, Executive headteacher, paid tribute to the multifarious ways that Pat worked for his local community.
‘A friend and colleague, Pat was a committed Catholic and family man with grown-up children and grandchildren. A long-time Wood Green resident, Pat was active in the local branch of the Labour party for many years. He was motivated by his passion to see greater opportunities for ordinary men and women and greater equality in society. A former deputy-headteacher and University lecturer, he was tireless in his pursuit for excellence in education. He was a driving force behind our recent school improvement and we are indebted to him for his devoted service to St Thomas More School. We are all very upset by his untimely death at a comparatively young age. He was respected by all for his counsel and wisdom. We send our heartfelt condolences to his widow and family.
May he rest in peace.’
