Executive Headteacher's Welcome

St Thomas More Catholic School is a mixed, independent Academy within the Cardinal Hume Academies Trust.  Last year’s GCSE results once again showed valued added which is reflected in a positive Progress 8 score;  testimony to the hard work and commitment of both students and staff.  St Thomas More is an outstanding school, as reflected in our Ofsted inspection and Section 48 Westminster Diocesan inspection.  We have been commended by the Department for Education on several occasions for our excellent GCSE performance based on the Key Stage 2 – Key Stage 4 value added measure.  We are very proud of the success of our motivated students and dedicated staff.

The Governors are aspirational for the school and together we want the very best in Catholic education for our students.  In addition to very high standards, we have an excellent reputation for extra-curricular activities, including clubs and trips.  Pupils value the wealth of opportunities available beyond the classroom and the very strong pastoral support.

We want parents to understand that despite being a forward looking school, we preserve traditional standards and Catholic values.  We are strict and do not allow mobile ‘phones to be brought into school.  Make-up is not allowed in the lower school and students must not have exaggerated hairstyles.  We are a uniform school and expect our pupils to be smart, well-behaved, well-mannered and cooperative.  The highest standard of pupil conduct is expected both in school and in the local community and we reward those that give of their best and correct those who transgress.

St Thomas More is an 11 – 19 school with a thriving Sixth Form.  The majority of our students choose to continue their education here and stay on to study for A Levels to facilitate their progression to the best universities.  Our students are our greatest ambassadors.  Please take the opportunity to visit the school at one of our Open Days/Evenings to see for yourself.
