Year 9 Speed Networking Event

We recently held a Speed Networking event supported by employers.  Students showed very high engagement throughout the sessions, and employers were glowing in their praise for our students. The employers included a barrister, doctor, an ex-student turned architect, a lead nurse, sports programme coordinator, entrepreneurs and senior business leaders.

This event sets up our students well to think more carefully about their current post-14 career decisions, as well as work experience in February.

Transferable Skills Day 2024 - The BAFTAs

On the 17th of June, our enthusiastic Year 10 students from the Media Studies department plunged into the world of the BAFTAs. The Transferable Skills Day 2024, produced by BAFTA for The Crown Estate, was an incredible opportunity for our students, connecting them with industry professionals and insights via BAFTA’s extensive network. The event aimed to spark excitement about careers in Film, Television, and Games, showcasing the various opportunities and highlighting the transferable skills students may already possess.

Our pupils attended masterclasses from professionals across different industries, learning about the vital skills needed to enhance their employability. Hosted by presenter Lauren Layfield, the event featured a panel discussion and five key sessions.

The goal of this event was to expose our students to new realms of opportunity. Here’s what some of our students had to say:

“I really really want to work in the film industry”  - Mario Loveday 10BK1
“The day was inspirational because the speakers were initially backed down with their ideas, even if it took years, eventually they were accepted – the main thing from all this for me is to be resilient”-  CJ Ozor 10BK1
“The day was immensely interesting – the range of opportunities within the media industry are so amazing – meeting and interacting with Alex Mechanikool was the best part” -  Lordina Agyapong 10BK2
“Being able to learn a range of skills was so stimulating because I now want to apply them in all areas of my life” -  Hannah Fox 10DX1

Celebrating Windrush Day

The Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Sue Jameson, invited our pupils to celebrate the anniversary of the Empire Windrush's arrival in Britain by the raising of a flag at George Meehan House today.  Our pupils, Diera Robinson ,  Tallulah Phipps-Paul, Kyjuan Brown, Nevaeh Russell , Arcani Martins, Ruth Tounkam and Priscilla Ndana all performed readings at the event.

Year 9 Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

Our Year 10 group successfully completed their expedition as part of the Duke of Edinburgh silver award. Thankfully they had much better weather than their practice run (which was held in torrential rain).  Congratulations to all involved. Please see our photos below of the brilliant expedition.
