Shadow Education Secretary Opens New Sixth Form Building
Our new Sixth Form building was officially opened on Monday 12th July by the Shadow Secretary of State for Education, Kate Green OBE, MP.
Head of School, Alex Rosen, gave the shadow secretary a tour of the school alongside Head Girl Tara McCarry and Head Boy, Daniel Tewelde, before she met with Year 12 students to answer questions about the state of the United Kingdom education system. The students were pleased to be asked for their ideas about changes to the current methods of assessment and engaged in lively discussion about the importance of education policy.
Kate Green tweeted of her visit: “It was an honour to open St Thomas More’s new 6th Form building this week. Thanks to staff, head girl and head boy Tara and Daniel, and students who joined the Q and A discussion. I really enjoyed my visit!”
The new St Thomas More Centre provides a suite of new classrooms designed solely for Sixth Form teaching at St Thomas More School, and will help accommodate the ever growing number of students who decide to study A Level and BTEC qualifications at the school, with a record intake into the new Year 12 cohort expected in September 2021.
