A Level Results 2017
A Level results increase again this year with 100% pass rate and 38.3% of pupils achieving A*-B Grades!
Martin Tissot, Executive Headteacher of top-performing, St Thomas More school in Wood Green said that he and the Governors were delighted at improved A Level results this year. Initial results show a rise in the A Level pass rate with 73% of candidates achieving A*-C Grades (64 % last year). Mark Rowland, Head of School said that he was particularly pleased with the 100% pass rate at A Level and pointed out that the A*/A percentages doubled from 6.7% to 14% and that the A*-B percentage has also risen by 7 percentage points from 31.4% to 38.3%
Dean Saunders, Head of Sixth Form, paid testimony to the hard work of both teachers and students and said that the school’s university preparation programme was clearly very effective. He said that the percentage going on to university at 90% of Year 13 was at an all-time high with 23% of these going to Russell group universities. Top performers this year were:
Omar Graoui - A - Arabic, A - Business, B - Psychology
Abida Khanom - A* - Biology, A - Chemistry, A – Mathematics

Omar had some wise words after opening his results, "You have to sacrifice the present to secure a bright future”, whilst Abida was clearly overjoyed, “I couldn't be happier with my grades! My advice is to do the subjects you love because doing what you love is also the key to your success. Work hard - but also smartly. And also take care of your mental health."
Enrolment to the Sixth Form for this September starts Thursday, 24 August 2017.
