St Thomas More Continues to be Outstanding and is Best School in Haringey
Ofsted inspectors who visited the school in January concluded that, ‘the school remains outstanding’, and that ‘safeguarding was found to be effective.’
The Ofsted letter contained a number of highly praising comments, noting that ‘the school’s mission statement, “to lead those in our care to grow in their faith and to benefit from an enriching education” underpins the school’s success,’ and ‘the school fosters a calm and purposeful environment where pupils make noticeable gain in their learning and achievements.’
In no uncertain terms, the report states, ‘The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding.’
Ofsted praised and acknowledged our Sixth Form in particular: ‘determined leadership continues to raise Sixth Form achievement’, noting that ‘teachers’ inspiring subject knowledge underpins the improvement.’
The Department for Education performance tables were also recently published for 2018, placing St Thomas More Catholic School’s Sixth Form top in Haringey and 30th in the country for progress.
A new four-classroom block is being planned for our Sixth Form as it continues to grow.
Mr Tissot, Executive Headteacher, said of the recent Ofsted review, ‘the inspection letter is validation of the incredible dedication and professionalism of all the staff.’
Mr Rowland, Head of School, said, ‘the comment in the Ofsted letter about “pupils’ exemplary attitude towards their learning” was wonderful. I have always been proud of our pupils, but never more so than now.’
