This week our pupils received their indoor athletics gold medals and took inspiration from successful footballer Nathan Smith.
Year 7 Indoor Athletics
The boys’ and girls’ teams were both confirmed champions on Wednesday evening, winning the Haringey competition for the 6th year in a row. The pupils all received a well-deserved gold medal, and will now go on to represent Haringey in the London Youth Games.
Year 7 Basketball
On Tuesday evening, Jahze displayed an exceptional performance against Heartlands High, scoring 10 points to lead St Thomas More to a 40-14 victory. Jesse, Ibuchi, Darren and Kwesi also scored. On Thursday evening the squad travelled to Park View to win 72-0 and maintain their unbeaten run. Scorers were Jakub, Emmanuel and Ananiah.
Nathan Smith (Professional Football Player) Visit
Jamaican international and Yeovil Town Football Club’s highest capped professional football player, Nathan Smith, visited St Thomas More School on Wednesday afternoon. Nathan delivered a presentation alongside Ms Eshen, explaining their transitions from Haringey born pupils to reputable athletes. Their presentation displayed several mental techniques to achieve audacious sport-specific goals. Nathan and Ms Eshen also ran a crossbar challenge activity for pupils to participate in during the lunch period, won by Daniel Situ.
